Learning More Everyday

This has been so great so far. I love this instrument! It's been so rewarding and I haven't even had it a week. I've met new friends (CHUG) and every time I play I feel like I get a little better. Strumming patterns are easier and more complex. I think I might start adding video posts to my blog so you can see and hear my progress. I do have a lot to learn still but as long as I keep taking baby steps in the right direction I will get there. I have two songs that I am working on and I can't wait to meet up with my uke friends again so they can see how much I've learned :)

So Awesome!

So I got my uke on Wednesday and I've learned one song. I never met with the group in Oak Park and then my schedule got messed up and I found a younger more modern and diverse group. They invited me to there Christmas party and I figured I better take up the opportunity. Everything they played was fun. I even got put out there and they had me play the one song I know. They all joined in with singing, and said it was a tough song for a beginner. I didn't even play that well but they made me feel so comfortable. I can't wait to meet up with them again next month!

It's Almost Here!

So yesterday I pulled out my guitar and cleaned her up. She was in the basement in a gig bag covered with mold, yuck. I'm so glad I pulled her out so she didn't get damaged. Now she has new strings and is ready to ROCK! My guitar is 15 years old and I never got good at it because of lack of practice. I was the typical kid who wanted to know how to play without learning. My main focus is going to be my ukulele, but I figured this would be a good time to try the guitar as well. I'm just so excited and want to start so the guitar helped with that urge.
I'm stalking my package too. It is on it's way to be delivered!!! Tonight I'll be playing my uke! Tomorrow night I might go to Oak Park to meet up with some other ukulele musicians. They get together every Thursday and jam together. I'm a little intimidated since I haven't even ever held the instrument. It's probably a good experience and even if I'm uncomfortable I will learn from it. My biggest dilemma is figuring out what song I want to learn first.....hummmmmm....... Wow what a dilemma, lol. I think it's going to be Michel Jackson's "Billie Jean." It's only a few cords and sounds awesome on the uke! Ukulele Underground has so much cool stuff on there, I love it! My Christmas gifts keep going and I need to stop, but if I don't get the things I want I'll never get them. Nobody was going to go on UU and get me the things I wanted, so I did. Now I'm done, I got a tuner, t-shirt, and DVD. they said if ordered by yesterday that it would be here for X-mas, but I think I missed the cut off time. Next time I check in I'll have my uke!

I'm SO Excited

I can't wait until I get my ukulele! I just found a group of people who get together once a week to jam together. It isn't too far away either, I can't wait to go and meet others who play this fun instrument! I've been watching lessons on line and hope that I can pick this up.

I Really Do Think I'm Musical

For some reason I've always wanted to play an instrument of some sort. So far I've tried violin, clarinet, keyboards, mouth harp, guitar, and that might be it. When I was a kid I wanted a ukulele, but it was on backorder and I never got one. Well I'm in a pretty bad place right now, my life is crazy and I'm trying to keep positive and busy. My income is low right now but I bought myself a Christmas gift....a ukulele. It looks awesome I bought a case and new strings as well as a pitch pipe, it was less money then I normally spend on myself and I found free lessons on line. I think this is a fairly simple instrument to learn so I'm excited to get it, and start learning!
My lessons that I'm going to start with are on these sites
